The Grateful Dead Say “Fare Thee Well”: Now That’s A Media Brand!

If you’re like me, you’ve seen your Facebook and Twitter feeds heavily populated over the last week with photos and videos from The Grateful Dead’s goodbye concerts at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara and Soldier Field in Chicago. And the mix of Deadheads among some of our most esteemed professions (and sometimes not) is impressive: Internet entrepreneurs, journalists, media executives, doctors, lawyers, academics and political consultants, many of them decked out in their finest tie-dye. Then again, with ticket prices on the secondary market approaching multiple thousands of dollars, maybe not so hard to understand this audience profile.
